2019 Honda CR-V Review
The 2019 Honda CR-V has few weaknesses, which is why it ranks near the top of the compact SUV class. It boasts a comfortable ride, peppy engine choices, and a high-grade cabin with loads of passenger and cargo space.
Pros & Cons
Generous passenger space
Immense cargo hold
Comfortable ride
Great fuel economy estimates
The 2019 CR-V is a good compact SUV. It’s an ideal vehicle for most families thanks to its spacious rear seats and vast amount of cargo space. Performance-wise, the CR-V has strong acceleration and composed handling. Besides its short list of standard features, there are few downsides to purchasing this compact crossover.
CR-V Interior
The CR-V’s interior space and overall comfort are its major highlights. You'll find seating for up to five people in two rows of supportive seats. Additionally, the back seats have plenty of space for adults.Cloth upholstery comes standard, and leather-trimmed seats are available. Heated front seats with a 12-way power-adjustable driver's seat and a four-way power-adjustable passenger seat are also optional. You can also get a leather-wrapped, heated steering wheel.
CR-V and Car Seats
There are two sets of LATCH car-seat connectors on the rear outboard seats. The middle seat has an upper tether and a left lower anchor, and it can borrow a lower anchor from the right passenger seat when it is not in use.
CR-V Interior Quality
The CR-V has one of the nicest interiors in the class. This Honda has a well-built and modern cabin that features quality soft-touch materials throughout, especially on higher trims.
CR-V Cargo Space
There's 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats up and 75.8 cubic feet of space when they are folded. These are among the highest estimates in the class. The cargo bay’s low liftover height makes it easy to load in heavy cargo. A power liftgate and a hands-free liftgate are available.
CR-V Infotainment, Bluetooth, and Navigation
Standard features include a 5-inch audio display screen, Bluetooth, a USB port, and four speakers. You can equip the CR-V with a number of upgrades, including an infotainment system with a 7-inch touch screen, three additional USB ports, satellite radio, HD Radio, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. CR-V Performance
CR-V Engine: Sufficient Base Engine; Powerful Turbo
Although the 2019 CR-V’s 184-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder base engine has adequate power, the available 190-horsepower, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine is a better option. This turbo-four has quicker acceleration and slightly better gas mileage estimates. Both engines come with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) that makes good use of the available power. It has simulated shifts to feel more like a traditional automatic transmission, and it doesn't create a droning noise from the engine, which is a common problem with CVTs. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available.
CR-V Gas Mileage: Great Estimates
The CR-V models with the base four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive deliver 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, which are good estimates in the class. Models with the stronger turbo-four engine and front-wheel drive get 28 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway, which are some of the highest estimates among nonhybrid compact SUVs.
CR-V Ride and Handling: Good Daily Driver
The CR-V favors a comfortable ride. It has minimal body roll around corners and a suspension system that smooths out bumps in the road.
