Born in 1971 in Courtalain in Eure-et-Loir. Armel Jullien is a self-taught painter living today in Haute-Loire. From 1989 to 1992, he took classes at the Brassart School of Graphic Arts in Tours where he obtained a diploma as a draftsman in advertising. Very early on, painting became his main interest, even though he devoted himself to water color from 1990 to 1994. Between 1993 and 1996, Armel Jullien worked a lot on drawing from nature and went to the Louvre to admire, observe, discover, meet the works of the masters, and more precisely those of painters from the Middle Ages. If he does not attend any painting class, he has a huge desire to "do like" them. It is during this period that the oil painting is needed and never leaves. Armel Jullien is as much interested in Dürer, Holbein, Rubens, Velazquez as Lucian Freud, Eric Fischl, Liu Xiaodong. Armel Jullien gives all the word to the nature that surrounds it. He brings to light a daily life, an environment where the emotions of those he portrays. His paintings graze the photographic rendering despite scenographers sometimes recomposed and imaginary.
